Mayawati positioning nephew Akash Anand as party’s third-in-line

In the changing political landscape where politics constantly evolve, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has stated that her party has also embraced innovation in the era of social media. Whether it is conveying messages through their Twitter handle or distributing roles separately through press conferences, BSP has adopted this innovation.
The BSP chief has herself been seen aligning with this innovation. On several occasions, she has noted in press conferences that she has already addressed a certain question through her tweets. As the discussions about the upcoming Lok Sabha elections center on Uttar Pradesh—which is the state with the highest number of seats— the BSP is currently the most talked-about topic in terms of alliances. All political parties are discussing when Mayawati will reveal her cards and whom she will form an alliance with.
However, based on recent developments, it seems that the BSP might contest the elections alone and already has a strategy in place. After a recent meeting in Delhi, Mayawati fielded a press conference, where her brother Anand and nephew Akash Anand were also present. Mayawati has never before allowed others to share the stage or answer questions during a press conference. But for the first time, the BSP leader in Delhi took questions with others at her side. People seem eager to listen to this new version of Mayawati and want to know what lies ahead.
According to sources, the BSP chief has made significant preparations according to the changing times with the future of the party in mind. Mayawati, who has been considered a serious contender since she began her political journey, is sending a message to the party about who might be chosen as the number 2 and 3 in the party. It will be crucial for everyone in the party and society to clearly understand this message regarding the positions that will be held after her.
With dual targets, Mayawati has placed her nephew Akash Anand alongside the Dalit youth icon image of Chandrashekhar Ravan, who is steadily gaining greater popularity in the Dalit community. Therefore, there will be a balance on both sides, where besides Ravan, Akash Anand has become a strong figure. Moreover, the BSP chief has already given strong indications within the organisation about Akash Anand position’s as the party’s number three. This has sparked intense political discussions about whether Mayawati will assign crucial responsibilities to her nephew in the upcoming elections. It remains to be seen how effective Mayawati’s changing strategy proves to be in the elections.
