Prayagraj is preparing for Mahakumbh 2025, expecting over 45 crore devotees. The event, held once every 12 years, will take place from January 13 to February 26. The police have implemented massive security measures to ensure safety for all attendees.
Comprehensive Security Plan
Following orders from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the police have created a circular security system. This includes 102 checkpoints across seven important routes. At these checkpoints, both vehicles and people will be checked thoroughly.
Advanced Surveillance Technology
To improve monitoring, 40,000 police personnel, along with cybercrime experts, are using artificial intelligence (AI). DGP Prashant Kumar stated that AI-powered surveillance will help manage the crowd. Additionally, over 1,000 police officers are assigned to patrol the checkpoints.
Deployed Security Forces
More resources have been dedicated to the event. Among them are 71 inspectors, 234 sub-inspectors, and 645 constables. They will work alongside 113 Home Guards and PRD jawans to monitor the security.
High-Tech Equipment for Safety
To enhance security, five Vajra vehicles, 10 drones, and four anti-sabotage teams are in place. These will patrol the area continuously, ensuring safety throughout the event.
Multi-Layered Security System
The police have set up a robust, multi-layered system called the “impenetrable security chakravyuh.” It will protect key locations, including temples and akhadas.
Preparedness with Mock Drills
Mock drills have been conducted with the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), National Security Guard (NSG), and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). These exercises are designed to ensure quick responses in emergencies.
Waterway Surveillance
In addition to land-based monitoring, 113 underwater drones and 2,700 AI cameras have been deployed around the Kumbh area. These advanced tools will help keep track of the situation both on land and water.
These measures aim to secure Mahakumbh 2025 and ensure the safety of all participants.
