Massive crowd at martyred Major Aashish Dhonchak’s Panipat village

On Friday, a massive crowd gathered in Panipat’s Binjhol to pay their respects to Major Aashish Dhonchak, who died in the line of duty while fighting terrorists in Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir.

Colonel Manpreet Singh, commanding officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Dhonchak, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Bhat were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Kokernag’s Gadole forests in Anantnag district on Wednesday morning.

Major Aashish’s family had been living in rented housing in Panipat, and he had been looking forward to moving to his new house in the city on his birthday, October 23.

He entered the Army as a lieutenant in 2012 and was promoted to Major in 2018. In November 2015, he married Jyoti of Jind, and they have a four-year-old daughter. He had only gone home to his family a month and a half before.

The family members stated that they received a call from his unit informing them that Aashish had sustained an injury and that he had died by the evening. His mother, Kamla, stated that she will greet her son with bravery and will not cry because her son had made the ultimate sacrifice for the country.

The martyr’s lifeless remains will be burned in his native hamlet of Binjhol, with hundreds of citizens, politicians, and officials in attendance to honor his sacrifice.

Meanwhile, a manhunt for the terrorists responsible for the ambush-style killings got underway on Thursday. Special forces and counterterrorism experts from the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been sent to catch them. In addition, dog squads, cutting-edge surveillance equipment, jammers, and drones are being used to seek them down.
