Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his final “Mann Ki Baat” episode of 2024, praised the Indian Constitution for its lasting significance. He highlighted that on January 26, 2025, the Constitution will complete 75 years of its implementation. “On January 26, 2025, our Constitution will complete 75 years of its implementation. It is a matter of great pride for all of us. The Constitution handed over to us by our Constitution makers has stood the test of time. The Constitution is a guiding light for us, our guide,” he said.
To mark this momentous occasion, the government launched a special website, http://constitution75.com. This platform allows citizens to upload videos reading the Preamble, access the Constitution in multiple languages, and ask questions about it.
India Marks the 75th Anniversary of Constitution Adoption
India celebrated the 75th anniversary of adopting the Constitution on November 26, 2024. On this day in 1949, the Indian Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution, which came into effect on January 26, 1950, making India a democratic republic. In 2015, the Government of India declared November 26 as Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas), and the country has observed this day every year since then.
Kalahandi’s ‘Vegetable Revolution’: A Success Story
Prime Minister Modi also highlighted the remarkable transformation of Kalahandi district in Odisha. Once known for forced migration due to poor agricultural conditions, Kalahandi has now become a vegetable-growing hub. Modi shared, “I want to tell you about an effort in Kalahandi, Odisha – The ‘Vegetable Revolution’ where once farmers were forced to migrate; today, Golamunda block of Kalahandi has become a vegetable hub.”
A small group of 10 farmers started the initiative by forming the ‘Kisan Utpad Sangh’ Farmer Producer Organization (FPO). They adopted modern farming techniques, and today their FPO is thriving, with a business worth crores. Over 200 farmers, including 45 women, are now involved. Modi stressed that this success story showcases the power of determination and collective effort.
Mann Ki Baat: A Platform for National Engagement
“Mann Ki Baat,” Prime Minister Modi’s monthly radio program, continues to connect with citizens across India. Launched on October 3, 2014, the program airs on the last Sunday of each month. It serves as a platform for discussing national issues and engaging with different sections of society, including women, the elderly, and youth.
In addition to 22 Indian languages and 29 dialects, “Mann Ki Baat” is broadcast in 11 foreign languages, including French, Chinese, Indonesian, Tibetan, Arabic, and Swahili. The program is broadcast by more than 500 centers of All India Radio, reaching a wide audience both in India and abroad.
