In a heartbreaking incident in Ukhrul district of Manipur, a minor boy has lost his life and two other children were injured after a wall collapsed due to a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall on Monday.
The accident occurred around 4:05 p.m. in the Hamleikhong area. Reports indicate that the wall collapse resulted in significant damage, with a 9-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl both suffering injuries. They were promptly transported to a nearby hospital where they received initial medical treatment.
Unfortunately, the minor boy, who was also caught in the wall collapse, succumbed to his injuries.
The state’s weather report highlighted that Ukhrul experienced 15.6 mm of rainfall between Sunday and Monday, which likely contributed to the landslide.
This incident mirrors a similar tragedy from July 29, where heavy rainfall caused a mudslide that resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including a two-year-old child, in Dimthanlong village, Tamenglong district.
