India’s quest for the 2025 Miss Universe crown ended as its representative, Manika Vishwakarma, was eliminated after the Top 12 round of the competition that is underway in Thailand.
This means an end to India’s attempt to recapture the title, which it last won in 2021 with Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu.
The hopefuls who remained in the fray for the prestigious title after Manika’s exit included contestants from Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Guadeloupe, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, China, the Philippines, Thailand, Malta, and Côte d’Ivoire.

Manika Vishwakarma: Journey to the Global Stage
Manika Vishwakarma has been pretty successful in the national pageantry. In 2024, she started her journey to the international competition when she was crowned Miss Universe Rajasthan 2024.
After that, she competed in Miss Universe India 2024 and secured a position in the Top 20 semi-finals and Top 5 for the special award “Best in Speech.” She represented India in the BIMSTEC Sewocon event the same year.
Her biggest success came in 2025. Having been selected as a wildcard finalist in the Miss Universe India 2025 pageant, Manika was crowned the national winner on August 18, 2025, and succeeded Rhea Singha.
During the national competition, she received acclaim for her communication skills and positive demeanor, securing the subtitle awards for Best in Personal Interview and Miss Beautiful Smile, while also placing in the Top 5 for the Best in Speech category again.
Manika Vishwakarma: Golden Showcase of Heritage
Manika was a sight to behold at the Miss Universe National Costume Show. She wore an exquisite, resplendent gold costume that married art from traditional Indian techniques with high fashion in a most effective way.
It was a stunning display of cultural heritage, with intricate embroidery, complicated handwork, and a beautiful crown that married classic tradition to contemporary elegance.
Despite her outstanding performance and exquisite display of India’s culture, Manika’s Miss Universe 2025 campaign concluded in the Top 12.
