In a disturbing turn of events, a young Muslim man identified as Hussain Ahmed Majumdar has gone missing after being physically assaulted aboard an IndiGo flight.

The widely circulated video shows a co-passenger suddenly slapping Hussain during a journey from Mumbai to Kolkata, seemingly during a panic or anxiety attack. Due to the incident, which has created a stir, the family in the Cachar region of Assam is concerned about their safety.

Viral Slap Video Raises Questions

The video circulating on social media shows Hussain Ahmed Majumdar being escorted by flight attendants towards the crew seat, appearing visibly distressed. Suddenly, a fellow passenger gets up and slaps him. Eyewitnesses believe Hussain was undergoing a panic attack or an intense anxiety episode at the time.

Several passengers and crew members reportedly condemned the act immediately, calling it inappropriate and unprovoked. However, upon arrival at Kolkata airport, authorities handed Hussain over to security agencies for “indiscipline.”

Hussain Disappears After Landing

After being handed over at Kolkata, Hussain Ahmed Majumdar was scheduled to board a connecting flight to Silchar. But he never arrived. His family, waiting at Silchar Airport, panicked when he didn’t show up. His phone has remained switched off ever since, and his belongings are believed to be left behind in Mumbai.

The family has lodged missing person complaints with the local police and Udharbandh Police Station, but there has been no update on his whereabouts so far.

“He Was Our Support System,” Says Ailing Father

Hussain’s father, Abdul Mannan Majumdar, who is currently battling cancer, expressed his distress and helplessness. “Mera beta Mumbai mein mehnat se kaam kar raha tha aur hum sabka sahara tha. Wo ghar laut raha tha. Subah video dekha aur ab pata nahi wo kahan hai.”

The family is particularly angry over the lack of clarity on whether Hussain was given any mental health support after the incident. They claim no official from the airline or airport authorities has informed them if he was taken to a hospital or a mental health facility.

IndiGo Issues Statement, But Details Remain Vague

IndiGo Airlines issued a brief statement on the social media platform X: “We are aware of the incident. Any form of unruly behaviour on our flights is strictly unacceptable. Our crew followed standard operating procedures, and the passenger was handed over to security agencies.”

However, the airline did not clarify what happened to Hussain afterwards—whether he was taken to a hospital, a holding area, or any custodial facility.

Family Appeals for Help and Transparency

Hussain Ahmed Majumdar’s disappearance has sparked serious concerns about passenger safety, airline transparency during in-flight issues, and mental health response procedures. After days with no updates and an ill father, the Majumdar family is pleading for answers—and the safe return of their son.
