Man Arrested for Threatening Medic with RG Kar Incident

In Purba Bardhaman district, West Bengal, a man named Susanta Roy has been arrested for allegedly threatening a female medic by referring to the recent rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College.

According to reports, Roy was taken into custody after doctors and nurses from the state-run Bhatar State General Hospital protested for his arrest. The threat reportedly came after Roy was dissatisfied with his treatment and warned the attending doctor that she could face the same fate as the victim from RG Kar Medical College if her care was inadequate.

A district health official informed that the doctor, adhering to her medical duties, continued with the treatment despite the threat and discussed the incident with other hospital staff. The staff then gathered at the CMOH office to demand both Roy’s arrest and increased security for medical personnel.

A latest report stated that Roy had threatened the female doctor at Bhatar hospital for delays in his treatment, saying, “Did you see what happened at RG Kar Medical College Hospital? It can happen to you too.”

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Police arrested an individual on Saturday in connection with the brutal rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College. This individual, an outsider frequently seen at the hospital, has been remanded to 14 days in police custody. Kolkata’s top cop, Vineet Goyal, described the crime as heinous and noted that the accused was apprehended based on circumstantial evidence and testimonies from other doctors who were on duty.
