Majithia brands Cong-AAP coalition as ‘unholy alliance’, attacks Punjab opposition

In a fiery rebuke, senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Punjab minister S. Bikram Singh Majithia today lambasted the recent AAP-Congress collaboration as an “unholy alliance,” accusing both parties of using Punjab as a bargaining chip to seal what he termed an “immoral deal.”
Majithia painted a vivid picture of the alliance, stating, “AAP and Congress are akin to a hydra-headed snake conjoined at the hip. Their true fangs have now been laid bare. These two parties resemble a forked tongue emerging from a singular venomous jaw.”
In his statement, Majithia urged Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, to reassign seats in the assembly, moving Congress legislators to the treasury benches.
He proclaimed the official opposition in Punjab as effectively extinguished, saying, “It is no longer an Opposition; it is entirely official now. The Congress is now formally a faction of the ruling party.”
“With their blatant announcement of collaboration, the cat is conclusively out of the bag,” the Akali leader declared, branding the tactical amalgamation of these two parties, both of which he labeled as “anti-Punjab” and “anti-Sikh”, as “The Great Betrayal.” He alleged that the Congress and AAP had orchestrated an opposition front during the assembly elections out of shared antagonism towards the SAD.
Majithia argued that this alliance involves a mutually beneficial deal where Punjab has been sacrificed for their national game plan. He revealed that “The Congress has agreed not to compete against AAP in Punjab and Delhi, while AAP will not confront Congress anywhere else in the country.”
He further alleged that as part of this arrangement, some Congress MPs are defecting to join AAP, mirroring the actions of former Congress MLAs who switched sides to AAP and were subsequently elected as MPs with the “tactical support” from Congress.
The Akali leader asserted that his party, SAD, has consistently maintained that these two parties have been indulging in political machinations at the expense of Punjab’s populace, conspiring to deny the legitimate rights of the true representatives of Punjab and the Khalsa Panth to serve their state.
