The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested 16 Bangladeshi nationals, including six women, for illegally entering India and staying without valid documents. The arrests were made as part of a special operation carried out by the ATS. In the last 24 hours, a joint effort by the ATS and police from Navi Mumbai, Thane, and Solapur led to the arrest of seven men and six women.
The individuals have been charged under the Foreigners Act and other relevant laws. According to officials, these Bangladeshi nationals had illegally obtained Indian documents, including Aadhaar cards, using forged documents. In a separate operation, three Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended from Jalna district on Friday night. They had been working at crusher machines in Bhokardan taluka and were arrested from Anva and Kumbhari villages.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the trio had forged their identity papers to work illegally in India and had been staying there for the past two years. The arrested individuals face charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Foreigners Act.
