President Droupadi Murmu, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel, arrived at the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Monday. She too take a holy dip at the Sangam. Upon reaching Prayagraj, Murmu, along with Yogi Adityanath and Patel, took a boat ride and fed birds.
Earlier in the day, Governor Patel and CM Yogi welcomed the President at Prayagraj airport.
An earlier statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan had said that after the holy dip, president Murmu will also take a darshan at Akshayavat and Hanuman Mandir. “She will also visit the Digital Kumbh Anubhav Centre,” the statement added
Sangam is the sacred meeting point of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. As per a statement from the Uttar Pradesh government, Murmu will also offer prayers at the Akshayavat and Bade Hanuman Temple, accompanied by Yogi Adityanath.
In past, India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, also took a holy dip during the Maha Kumbh Mela in 1954 in Prayagraj.
