Mahakumbh 2025: Over 50 Crore Devotees Take Holy Dip in Prayagraj

Mahakumbh 2025: Over 50 Crore Devotees Take Holy Dip in Prayagraj

Maha Kumbh 2025, with over 50 crore devotees having taken a holy dip in the holy waters up until February 14. It is marked as the largest spiritual and cultural gathering in Prayagraj globally and recorded a historic turnout.

The event was initiated on 13 January. It will culminate on Mahashivratri, which falls on February 26, bringing pilgrims from across the globe to perform spiritual rituals of purification.

The Uttar Pradesh government initially envisaged a turnout of about 45 crore devotees. However, with nearly two weeks remaining for the grand spectacle to come to an end, the numbers exceed expectations. Reports stated that by 8.00 am today alone, about 8.54 million people had taken a holy dip, numbering as many as over 500,000 Kalpavasis and over 6.42 million pilgrims.

Tripura CM at Maha Kumbh 2025

Dignifying the occasion, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, together with his family, performed the ritual at Triveni Sangam. The CM prayed to the holy Ganga, praying for peace and prosperity for Tripura.

Due to the prevailing trend of pilgrim arrivals, the authorities foresee an expected total footfall of 55 crore before the festival closes down. There is an immense demand for transport services, and seats are all booked for trains and flights to Prayagraj for the next three weeks.

Devotees at Holy Dip

Despite the crowd, devotees still pour in, riding high on their faith and the spiritual importance of Maha Kumbh. There are only a few days to go for Mahashivratri. Millions could still partake in the bathing rituals marking the final leg of the mega bathing festival.

The hurry and fervor on display here hang into one of the most momentous instances in the annals of history.
