As millions of pilgrims arrive in Prayagraj to attend the Maha Kumbh Mela, Indian Railways has also increased its preparations to ensure health and safety among the devotees. With lakhs of devotees thronging the holy city for this once-in-twelve-years affair, the railway authorities have set up well-equipped medical centers at all key stations, such as Prayagraj Junction, to provide instant medical care.

Medical Support Facilities at Prayagraj Junction

As a measure to cater to the huge influx of visitors, Indian Railways has established an observation room at the entry gate toward platform number 3 of Prayagraj station. Indian Railways has strategically positioned the facility to provide instant medical support in case of health issues or accidents. The facility is well-furnished with basic medical appliances such as Electrocardiogram machines for heart problems, defibrillators for cardiac arrest, oxygen concentrators for respiratory emergencies, and glucometers for diabetic patients.

“We have everything ready here,” said a pharmacist stationed at the facility. “Our nursing staff is available around the clock, offering immediate care. In case of severe emergencies, we promptly transfer patients to nearby hospitals through ambulances.”

Prompt Medical Attention At the Mela

The medical teams of railways have already seen many pilgrims. One case was that of a woman, who felt giddy while moving to Ganga for a religious bath. Her family member, Naveen thanked the railway people for their instant response: “We were heading to the Ganga for a bath when her health deteriorated. We’re grateful for the prompt and excellent care provided by the railway staff.”

24 x 7 Medical Care in Maha Kumbh Mela

Indian Railways is gearing up as part of a massive effort to ensure 24×7 medicare during the Maha Kumbh Mela. Most of the devotees, going to the festival, converge at a particular point-the railway station. As many as 7 crore devotees have already bathed at Triveni Sangam and the number is bound to cross 50 crore by the time the festival will conclude on February 26.

The Maha Kumbh Mela is one of the grandest spiritual assemblies where devotees gather to perform a ritual bath in the sacred water confluence at Ganga-Yamuna. Indian Railways makes sure the pilgrims while enjoying this event, enjoy it safely through access to all critical care measures.

Indian Railways plays a key role in providing medical support by absorbing an overwhelming population of pilgrims visiting the sacred site. Hence, the increase in medical amenities at Prayagraj Junction has been much testimony to their concern for taking care of so many millions over the sacred religious gathering going on.
