The Maha Kumbh 2025, the world’s largest spiritual gathering, began with thousands of devotees flocking to Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, for the holy ‘Snan’ on Paush Purnima. Devotees gathered at the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers meet. This marks the start of the grand event, with the first major Shahi or Amrit Snan scheduled for Tuesday, on Makar Sankranti.
Spiritual Significance of Ganga Triveni Dip
Pandit Pawan Kumar highlighted the importance of the dip at Ganga Triveni. He explained, “The Snan at Ganga Triveni is considered the most sacred, which is why it is regarded as the best. All the sorrow, sins, and unrest in the mind vanish upon coming here, and this is the effect of the place. Even when Lord Ram faced hardship, he came here and found peace. At every other place, only righteousness is attained, but Prayagraj provides all four—Arth, Dharma, Kaam, and Moksha—making it a great blessing to visit this place.”
Praise for Yogi Adityanath’s Arrangements
A sadhu from Jodhpur, attending the Maha Kumbh Mela, praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the excellent arrangements. He stated, “A large number of people have started coming here from all over; there is a huge rush. The arrangements are very good, thanks a lot to Yogi Ji. If the BJP government and Yogi Ji were not here, such grand facilities wouldn’t have been possible. The arrangements here are excellent, including for food, bathing, and security.”
Rare Celestial Alignment Adds to the Event’s Significance
This year’s Maha Kumbh is even more special due to a rare celestial alignment, occurring once every 144 years. This rare event has drawn even more attention to the festival, making it a unique and memorable experience for attendees.
Safety Measures and Traffic Arrangements
To ensure the safety of devotees, NDRF teams and Uttar Pradesh Police’s water police have been deployed at key locations. Additionally, the Traffic Police have made arrangements to ensure smooth movement of vehicles. The entry to the Sangam Mela area is through Jawaharlal Nehru Marg (Black Road), while the exit will be via Triveni Marg. During the major bathing festivals, the Akshayavat Darshan will remain closed.
Parking Arrangements for Devotees
Parking lots for vehicles coming from Jaunpur have been set up at various locations, such as Chini Mill Parking, Purva Surdas Parking, and others. These arrangements ensure smooth traffic flow and convenience for visitors.
