Madhya Pradesh: Cylinder Blast at Chaat Stall Injures 40 in Chhattarpur

A cylinder explosion at a ‘chaat’ stall in Chhattarpur, Madhya Pradesh, left at least 40 people injured on Sunday, according to local officials. The incident occurred at a busy food center, causing panic among onlookers and customers.

Upper Collector Milind Kumar Nagdev confirmed the explosion, stating, “A small cylinder blast occurred at a chaat center. On the orders of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), the injured were immediately rushed to the district hospital. The district administration will cover the medical expenses for those affected.” The blast reportedly injured around 40 individuals who were present at the stall when the incident took place.

Chief Medical Officer RP Gupta provided updates on the victims’ condition, revealing that 23 people were brought to the hospital with varying degrees of burn injuries. “All patients have received first aid and have been transferred to the normal ward,” Gupta said, adding that while some patients sustained burns covering up to 40 percent of their bodies, none are reported to be in critical condition.

The local administration has assured swift action and support for the victims. Further details about the cause of the explosion and the extent of damages are awaited as officials continue to assess the situation.

The incident has raised concerns about safety protocols at food stalls and public eateries. Authorities are expected to review the incident thoroughly to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
