LS Elections 2024: Congress Not to Participate in Exit Poll Debates

With the culmination of the seven-phased Lok Sabha elections drawing near, the Congress party has declared its abstention from participating in Exit Poll debates slated to commence from June 1 onwards. These exit polls will be released subsequent to the conclusion of voting in the final election phase on June 1. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera articulated the party’s decision on Friday, citing a reluctance to engage in “speculation and slugfest for TRP.”

Khera emphasized, “The Indian National Congress will not participate in the debates on #ExitPolls.” He added that the party intends to engage in discussions after June 4, following the announcement of the election results. “Our statement on the reason for not participating in #ExitPolls Voters have cast their votes and their verdict has been secured. The results will be out on 4th June. Prior to that, we do not see any reason to indulge in speculation and slugfest for TRP. The Indian National Congress will not participate in the debates on #ExitPolls,” he elaborated, emphasizing the purpose of debates to inform the people, indicating the party’s readiness to engage in discussions from June 4 onward.

The Lok Sabha elections, conducted in seven phases, have concluded six phases, with the final phase scheduled for June 1. This phase encompasses 57 constituencies across eight states and Union Territories. The vote counting is slated for June 4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP aims to secure a third consecutive term, while the Opposition, under the banner of the INDIA bloc, seeks to challenge the ruling party’s authority.
