Lok Sabha polls 2024 Phase 2: Madhya Pradesh records 28.15 % voter turnout till 11 am

Madhya Pradesh witnessed a 28.15 percent voter turnout by 11 am in the second phase of polling for six parliamentary seats, as per data from the Election Commission of India. The polling commenced at 7 am for the constituencies of Tikamgarh (SC), Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, Rewa, and Hoshangabad. Among these, Hoshangabad led in voter turnout with 32.40 percent, followed by Satna with 30.32 percent, Khajuraho with 28.14 percent, Tikamgarh with 26.96 percent, Damoh with 26.84 percent, and Rewa with 24.46 percent.

In the previous phase on April 19, Madhya Pradesh had recorded a 30.46 percent voter turnout by 11 am, with the final turnout reaching 67.08 percent. Six parliamentary seats—Sidhi, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, and Chhindwara—went to polls in the first phase, where Chhindwara had the highest turnout at 79.18 percent, followed by Balaghat at 73.18 percent, Mandla at 72.49 percent, Shahdol at 63.73 percent, Jabalpur at 60.52 percent, and Sidhi at 55.19 percent.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav urged the public to exercise their franchise for the nation’s bright future, stating, “Voters are the most important in the elections, the festival of democracy.” Anupam Rajan, Chief Electoral Officer of Madhya Pradesh, also encouraged voters to cast their ballots responsibly.

The Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh are conducted in four phases, with the first phase held on April 19 and the next two phases scheduled for May 7 and May 13. Vote counting will take place on June 4. Madhya Pradesh comprises a total of 29 Lok Sabha constituencies, with 10 reserved for SC and ST candidates and 19 unreserved.
