Ahead of the impending Lok Sabha elections, Uttarakhand’s Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande provided insights into the preparation of booths for the polls.

Jogdande informed ANI that 85 booths across the state will be managed by women personnel. Among these, 12 booths in Bageshwar and nine in Tehri district will be operated by women staff.

Additionally, 70 booths are being readied as model booths in Uttarakhand, to be managed by Divyang personnel. Among these, 44 model booths will be manned by young staff, with 12 designated in the Pauri district.

Ensuring the tracking of vehicles during the election process is mandatory, as per Jogdande. Currently, 10,091 vehicles are utilized in the state for election purposes, with GPS installation ongoing. As of now, GPS devices have been installed in 2,500 vehicles, and this process is set to conclude three days before polling day.

Furthermore, Uttarakhand has initiated door-to-door voting in these elections. The first phase of voting through postal ballots by door-to-door visits is underway. Out of 9993 voters aged above 85 years, 6861 have cast their votes, while 2218 disabled voters out of 2899 have also participated in the voting process.

The people of Uttarakhand are scheduled to cast their votes on April 19 across the state’s five Lok Sabha constituencies.
