Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 6: Voting Begins in 58 Constituencies Across India

Voting for Phase 6 of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 commenced today, with over 11.13 crore people, including 5.84 crore men, 5.29 crore women, and 5,120 third-gender electors, exercising their right to vote.The polling, which started at 7 am, is being held in 58 constituencies across six states and two union territories. Notable among these are all seven seats in Delhi and select constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Sanjana, a first-time voter, proudly displayed her inked finger after casting her vote at Nirman Bhawan in New Delhi.

So far, polling has been completed for 428 parliamentary constituencies across 25 states and UTs in the first five phases of the general elections 2024.

In addition to the Lok Sabha polls, simultaneous polling is being held for 42 assembly constituencies in Odisha.

This phase sees 889 candidates vying for victory across the 58 seats, with prominent names such as Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Rao Inderjit Singh, and Krishan Pal Gurjar, as well as Maneka Gandhi, Sambit Patra, Manohar Lal Khattar, and Mehbooba Mufti in the fray.

Security arrangements have been tightened, with the Election Commission deploying 20 special trains to transport security personnel and a significant number of observers overseeing the process.

The weather forecast for Delhi predicts a maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius, with no heat wave expected.

The Lok Sabha Elections voting process is expected to conclude at 6 pm, with results slated to be announced on June 4, after the completion of the seventh and final phase of the elections on June 1.
