Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 2: Polling Ended Peacefully in Outer Manipur with a Voter Turnout of 75%

Pradeep Kumar Jha, the Chief Electoral Officer of Manipur, emphasized the increased voter turnout and minimal instances of violence during the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Outer Manipur. He stated that as of the latest update, voter turnout was around 75 percent, with no significant disruptions reported.

Despite one incident of Electronic Voting Machine malfunction, overall, the voting process proceeded smoothly across the 13 assembly segments of the Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency. Jha noted that compared to the 2019 elections, this year’s voting in Outer Manipur was notably more peaceful, with a significant voter turnout.

According to the Election Commission’s voter turnout app, 78.78 percent of votes were recorded. Earlier, re-polling took place in 11 polling stations of Inner Manipur constituency due to violence during the first phase of polling. The second phase covered 88 seats across 13 states and Union Territories, with polling concluding at 6 pm.

The first phase, held on April 19, saw a voter turnout of over 62 percent across 102 constituencies. The subsequent round of polling is scheduled for May 7, with vote counting and results announced on June 4.
