Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Nomination From Raebareli ‘family’s Karmabhoomi’, Says Rahul Gandhi

The Congress party has ended speculation by nominating Rahul Gandhi to represent the Raebareli Lok Sabha seat, a decision that comes with emotional resonance for the Gandhi family. Rahul Gandhi, after filing his nomination papers, described Raebareli as his “family’s Karmabhoomi,” signaling a deep-rooted connection to the region.

The former Congress chief expressed sentimentality about his nomination, emphasizing the trust placed in him by his mother, Sonia Gandhi, to carry forward the family legacy in Raebareli. “Nomination from Raebareli was an emotional moment for me! My mother has entrusted me with the responsibility of the family’s workplace with great confidence and given me the opportunity to serve it,” Gandhi shared in a social media post after the nomination process.

Rahul Gandhi also addressed the significance of Amethi, a constituency he represented until 2019, stating that both Amethi and Raebareli hold equal importance to him. He expressed satisfaction with Kishori Lal being nominated for the Amethi seat, acknowledging Lal’s long-standing service to the area.

The nomination filing event was attended by prominent Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, showcasing party unity and support for Rahul’s candidature.

Meanwhile, Congress loyalist K L Sharma filed his nomination from the Amethi Lok Sabha seat, emphasizing the party’s stronghold in the region. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, urging support for party nominees in both constituencies, expressed confidence in Rahul Gandhi and Kishori Lal’s potential to secure victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

The nominations from Raebareli and Amethi reflect a strategic move by the Congress party, highlighting the importance of these constituencies in the political landscape and the Gandhi family’s enduring influence in Uttar Pradesh politics.
