Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 40.32 % Voter turnout recorded till 1 pm

40.32 percent of voters cast ballots as of 1 pm in the fourth round of the Lok Sabha election, which is taking place in 96 constituencies spread across nine states and one Union Territory.

The greatest voter turnout was achieved in West Bengal (51.87 percent), while the lowest was recorded in Jammu and Kashmir (23.575 percent), according to figures supplied by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Madhya Pradesh received 48.52 percent of the vote, while the percentages in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, Bihar, and Jharkhand, were 40.26, 43.8, and 39.30 percent, respectively.

The voting process for the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, covering 96 Parliamentary Constituencies across nine states and one Union Territory, commenced on Monday at 7:00 am. Simultaneously, polling for all 175 seats of the State Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh and 28 seats of the State Legislative Assembly of Odisha began alongside the Lok Sabha polls.

Of the 96 Lok Sabha seats, 25 are from Andhra Pradesh, 17 from Telangana, 13 from Uttar Pradesh, 11 from Maharashtra, eight each from Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal, five from Bihar, four each from Jharkhand and Odisha, and one from Jammu and Kashmir.

The Election Commission reported a total of 4,264 nominations filed for the 96 parliamentary constituencies. Among them, 25 are from Andhra Pradesh, 17 from Telangana, 13 from Uttar Pradesh, 11 from Maharashtra, eight each from Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal, five from Bihar, four each from Jharkhand and Odisha, and one from Jammu and Kashmir.

The ongoing fourth phase sees significant contests in various constituencies, with leaders like AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, TMC leader Mahua Moitra, BJP leader Giriraj Singh, JDU’s Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), TMC leaders Shatrughan Sinha and Yusuf Pathan, BJP leaders Arjun Munda and Madhavi Latha, and Andhra Pradesh Congress Chief YS Sharmila vying for electoral success.

As of now, up to the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls, polling has been conducted smoothly and peacefully in 283 Lok Sabha seats.
