Lok Sabha Adjourned Amid Opposition Chaos Over Adani Controversy

The Lok Sabha was adjourned just two minutes after the session began due to uproar by opposition parties over the Adani controversy.

Opposition MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, raised protests over the Adani issue, demanding a discussion. However, members from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Samajwadi Party (SP) did not participate in the protest.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to introduce the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024, in the Rajya Sabha. The bill aims to amend several key banking regulations.

Congress MP Manickam Tagore moved an adjournment notice in the Lok Sabha, focusing on the clean chits given to Ajit Pawar and Chandrababu Naidu in alleged corruption cases. He demanded a discussion on the functioning of agencies like the CBI, ED, and Income Tax.

Congress MP Imran Masood criticized the government for its failure to meet promises made to farmers, particularly the commitment to double their income and provide guaranteed MSP.

Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav condemned the use of tear gas against farmers protesting at the Punjab-Haryana border.

Congress MP Pramod Tiwari accused the government of hindering parliamentary discussions on key issues, including the Adani controversy, farmers’ issues, and the violence in Manipur.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh filed a Zero Hour notice in the Rajya Sabha regarding the issue of Bus Marshals and the appointment of Civil Defence Volunteers in Delhi.

Congress and other opposition MPs are expected to protest outside Makar Dawar at Parliament House today regarding the US allegations against the Adani Group and violence in Manipur.
