Liquor Bottles In Parking, Stray Dogs Near Labor Room: Shocking Reality Of A Delhi Hospital

As protests and public outrage continue to grow over the recent rape and murder of a trainee doctor during her duty hours at a Kolkata hospital, Times Now conducted an investigation at one of Delhi’s most prestigious government hospitals. The findings revealed serious security lapses, with several dark, isolated areas on the premises, empty liquor bottles scattered in parking areas, and stray dogs freely roaming near the labor room.

This reality check was conducted at midnight at one of the oldest hospitals in the capital. The investigation uncovered numerous dark spots both inside and outside the hospital building, particularly near the casualty/emergency/OPD areas. These spots were devoid of security personnel and were completely isolated. The entry gate closest to the casualty ward lacked both a metal detector and a security guard, allowing the crew to enter the hospital without any security check. This contrasts sharply with the proper security checks typically seen at the entry-exit points of hospitals.

At the registration desk, a woman was observed sitting alone. In the parking area, the team found it completely isolated with no security guard in sight, and empty liquor bottles were scattered across the area. Inside the hospital premises, the crew encountered individuals who appeared to be intoxicated, lying on the floor.

The investigation also exposed poor sanitation, with stray dogs seen roaming freely in the lobbies, wards, and walkways outside the labor room. Several blocks of the hospital were found to be lacking in cleanliness.

Doctors, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed fear about walking through the empty hospital lanes at night. One doctor noted, “There is hardly any security around. The hospital management has hired one bodyguard, and they have told us to call him if there is a problem. But since the campus is so large, one bodyguard cannot ensure our safety.”

Female doctors also highlighted the lack of proper sanitation, with one resident doctor stating, “There is no proper water facility in the hospital. Not even drinking water is available. Washrooms are unclean and unhygienic.”

These findings come as doctors across the country protest in response to the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata on August 9. On Wednesday, the protest ground and the hospital campus at RG Kar were vandalized by a mob, forcing security personnel to disperse the crowd.
