In a contentious issue regarding incorrect water bills for 10 lakh people in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor (LG) V.K. Saxena are engaged in a public confrontation. The LG has written a letter to the CM, asserting that all departments related to water, finance, urban development, and the associated plan are entirely under the control of the CM. The LG claims no role in this matter, emphasising that no document related to this issue has been brought to his attention officially or unofficially.
Saxena has urged the CM to take a decision and not shift blame onto others. He questioned why only 10 lakh out of 27 lakh consumers should have their water bills waived, suggesting that if there’s a need for bill forgiveness, it should be extended to all consumers. He highlights the importance of treating the remaining 17 lakh honest consumers, who have already paid their bills, fairly.
The LG’s letter accuses the CM of making an unacceptable and irresponsible claim that the LG is influenced by the BJP. This statement not only violates all principles and constitutional provisions but also reflects a low level of politics. It is seen as an attempt to deflect attention from one’s own shortcomings onto others.
