Lakshmi Puja is one of the most special parts of Diwali celebrations. In 2025, it will be performed on October 20, Tuesday. On this day, people across India will worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha to seek blessings for wealth, happiness, and peace.

This year’s puja is considered very lucky as the muhurat falls during the ideal Pradosh Kaal, the most suitable time to perform the ritual.

Diwali Lakshmi Puja 2025: Simple Puja Vidhi and Rituals

On the day of Lakshmi Puja, devotees wake up early, take a bath, and wear new or clean clothes. Many people keep a fast throughout the day, breaking it only after performing the evening puja.

Homes and offices are beautifully decorated with marigold flowers, Ashoka, mango, and banana leaves. It is believed that placing a Kalash topped with an unpeeled coconut on both sides of the main entrance brings good fortune and positivity.

During the puja, idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha are placed on a raised platform covered with a red cloth. Devotees then prepare nine slots of Akshata (unbroken rice) on a white cloth for the Navgraha and sixteen slots of wheat or wheat flour on a red cloth for the main rituals.

People light diyas, chant prayers, and offer sweets, fruits, and coins to the Goddess. The puja ends with the aarti, filling homes with peace and joy.

Eco-Friendly and Mindful Diwali

This year, many families are celebrating Diwali in a more eco-friendly way. People are choosing clay diyas instead of plastic lights, natural decorations, and organic colours for rangoli. The trend is shifting from showy celebrations to mindful and sustainable traditions.

Experts say, “Aligning faith with sustainability adds deeper meaning to the festival.” By reducing pollution and waste, devotees are honouring Goddess Lakshmi while also showing respect for nature.

In 2025, Diwali will not only light up homes but also promote harmony, prosperity, and care for the environment — making it a festival of light, love, and responsibility.
