In a strategic move to secure victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Congress party in Karnataka has intensified its efforts to deliver guaranteed schemes to the people in the state. A crucial decision in this regard was made during a meeting of Congress district presidents, state office-bearers, and ministers-in-charge held at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office.
After the meeting, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Sivakumar addressed a joint press conference, announcing the formation of committees to ensure the effective implementation of guaranteed schemes. The focus is on promoting these schemes in a targeted manner to secure more votes and seats in the Lok Sabha. Speaking at the press conference, D.K. Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister, highlighted that the government’s guarantees have already reached approximately 3.5 crore people. He emphasized the need to form committees to oversee program implementation, ensuring that there are no lapses. In preparation for the Lok Sabha elections, 25 ministers have been assigned specific responsibilities to formulate and execute programs. Committees such as the Action Committee, Health Committee, and a committee for the development of lakes will be constituted within the next few months.
Furthermore, D.K. Sivakumar announced the decision to hold a state-level conference for activists, with details regarding the venue to be decided in the next two days. He also revealed plans to launch the Fifth Guarantee Youth Fund program in Shimoga during a convention scheduled for January 21.
D.K. Sivakumar provided insights into the appointment of the Chairman of the Corporation Board, stating that the first list is ready and will be released after January 14. The Chairman and Vice Chairman will be appointed for a two-year term, with DK Shivakumar noting that subsequent opportunities will be given to others.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, addressing the press, emphasized the importance of fulfilling promises made during the elections and ensuring their effective delivery to the people. Committees will be formed at the state, district, taluk, and assembly constituency levels to oversee the adequate implementation of guarantee schemes. Siddaramaiah also announced that the state-level committee chairman will hold cabinet-grade status, with five vice-chairmen enjoying ministerial status.
