A promising young cricketer from Jharkhand is steadily making his mark in India’s domestic age-group circuit, balancing academic commitments with an impressive rise through competitive cricket. At just 17 years of age, Krish Sharma who has been taken care by team LegaXy has already represented Jharkhand multiple times across the Under-14, Under-16 and Under-19 levels, emerging as one of the state’s exciting prospects for the future.

Hailing from Dimmna Basti East in Jamshedpur, Krish has built a reputation as a technically sound and mentally resilient left-handed opening batter, while also contributing as an off-spin bowler and agile fielder. According to his cricket profile, he has consistently delivered strong performances in major domestic tournaments and development camps, attracting attention within Jharkhand cricket circles.

Speaking during an interaction with TDG, the youngster reflected on his cricketing journey and said managing studies alongside sport had not been particularly difficult. He explained that he maintained a “normal” academic routine while devoting significant time to training and practice sessions, which helped him strike a balance between education and cricket without excessive pressure.

Krish also spoke candidly about opportunities and competition within the sport. He stated that he believed he had received all the opportunities he deserved so far in his journey. While acknowledging that every sport involves competition and a degree of internal politics, he said he had not personally experienced bias or been denied chances at any stage of his development.
The teenager’s performances at the domestic level underline his rapid progress.

During the 2024–25 Cooch Behar Trophy for Jharkhand Under-19s, Krish scored 300 runs in six innings, including an unbeaten 70. He also impressed in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, registering 130 runs in three innings with a top score of 74.

His earlier Under-16 performances were equally noteworthy. In the Vijay Merchant Trophy 2023–24, Krish amassed 425 runs in seven matches, including a highest score of 128 not out. He also scored 400 runs in five inter-district Under-19 matches, highlighted by an unbeaten 175. These numbers reinforce his consistency as a top-order batter capable of anchoring innings under pressure.

Although Krish described himself primarily as a bowler during the interaction, his official profile highlights his versatility as a cricketer. Alongside his left-handed batting, he bowls right-arm off-spin and is recognised for his sharp reflexes and safe hands in the field.

His development pathway further reflects his growing stature in age-group cricket. Krish has been selected three times for Jharkhand Cricket Association Under-14 camps, four times at Under-16 level, and twice in Under-19 camps. He was also selected for the National Cricket Academy Under-16 programme in Mumbai, where he trained under leading national coaches.

Fitness has also been an important part of his progression. Krish recorded a Yo-Yo Test score of 19.01 at the NCA in Mumbai and completed a 2K run in seven minutes and 35 seconds during an Under-19 camp, reflecting his strong athletic standards.

As Indian cricket continues to witness the emergence of talent from smaller centres, Sharma’s journey reflects Jharkhand’s growing contribution to the sport. With continued exposure, structured coaching and consistent performances, the teenager now aims to strengthen his position in domestic cricket and push towards higher competitive levels in the years ahead.
