Kerala is now ‘total e-governance state’, declares CM

In a landmark announcement, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan declared the state as a total e-governance state during an event organised by the Kerala IT Mission in Thiruvananthapuram district today. This significant move aims to revolutionise governance and propel Kerala into a new era of technological advancement.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Vijayan expressed his belief that transforming Kerala into a total e-governance state would contribute immensely to shaping the state’s future. He acknowledged the frustration people often experience with certain democratic systems that fail to meet their demands. However, he emphasised that Kerala stands apart, as the government conducts regular audits and submits reports to the people, ensuring accountability and transparency. The Chief Minister commended the efficiency of the government, particularly in handling the severe challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that despite the state facing unprecedented difficulties, the e-governance system effectively managed the situation. Reflecting on the government’s achievements, Vijayan stated, “In 2016, we made 600 promises to the people, and out of that, 520 projects have been fulfilled.

The resilience displayed during the 2018 flood and the subsequent recovery efforts, followed by the global pandemic, exemplifies the effectiveness of this government.” Chief Minister Vijayan highlighted the success of the e-governance system across various sectors, including health, revenue, and the state home department. Specifically, he praised the cyber crimes department for its swift response in investigating cases, setting a remarkable example for the nation. The transition to a total e-governance state represents a significant step forward for Kerala. By embracing technology and streamlining administrative processes, the government aims to enhance efficiency, ensure prompt delivery of services, and empower citizens. This milestone places Kerala at the forefront of digital governance, serving as an inspiration to other states across the nation. As Kerala embarks on this new chapter, the stage is set for transformative changes that will shape the future of governance in the state. With an emphasis on accountability, transparency, and responsiveness, the government aims to build a strong foundation for progress, fostering inclusive development and a better quality of life for all Kerala residents.
