Kejriwal’s Departure from Official Residence Expected Soon Following Resignation

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal resigned on Tuesday, following his decision to resign amid ongoing legal issues related to the Delhi excise policy case, he will vacate his official residence in Civil Lines within the next few weeks, according to sources within the party.

Kejriwal, who was arrested in connection with the Delhi excise policy case and later released on bail, made his decision to step down public during a meeting with party leaders and workers on Sunday. He explained that since the legal proceedings could take a long time, he wished to step aside and “go to the court of the people” to prove his innocence. “I will not sit on the CM’s seat till you vote for me again,” he said.

Controversy Surrounding His Residence

Kejriwal currently lives in the Civil Lines bungalow with his family, but the party plans for the incoming Chief Minister to move in soon. The bungalow has faced scrutiny for renovation costs, with allegations of “procedural irregularities” raised by BJP.

Previous Residences and Political Career

Kejriwal, who has lived at the Flagstaff Road bungalow since 2015, previously resided in a Tilak Lane bungalow during his first term as CM in 2013. He briefly returned to his family home in Kaushambi before moving to his current residence.

Alternative Housing Options Being Considered

Party officials are exploring alternative housing arrangements for Kejriwal, who is eligible for government-provided accommodation as the head of a national political party.
