Kejriwal prioritized corruption over development: Sachdeva

The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the deteriorating condition of the national capital. According to the Delhi BJP, Kejriwal has failed to work for Delhi’s progress over the past decade and has instead been embroiled in various corruption scandals.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva stated that Kejriwal has not delivered on development and has been associated with multiple scams during his tenure. He contrasted this with the central government’s contributions under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting significant developments in Delhi, such as Yashobhoomi, Bharat Mandapam, Eco Park, Bansera Park, Pragati Maidan Tunnel, UBR-2, Ring Road-3, East-West Corridor, Delhi-Meerut Highway, and Alipur Bypass. Sachdeva also pointed to the revitalization of landmarks like Ambedkar Memorial, Birsa Munda Chowk, and Kartavya Path.

Sachdeva emphasized that under PM Modi’s leadership, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has provided quality housing to over 5,000 slum residents. The Prime Minister’s initiatives have also created better job opportunities for Delhi’s youth, particularly in the NCR region, with new roles emerging in the gig economy.
In contrast, Kejriwal’s tenure has been marred by controversies such as the liquor policy scam, spying scandal, panic button scam, ration card scam, hospital construction scam, neighborhood medicine and diagnostics scam, and the classroom construction scam.

Sachdeva remarked that the list of corruption cases under Kejriwal’s government seems endless.
While PM Modi has provided housing to millions through the PM Awas Yojana, Kejriwal has allegedly deprived Delhi’s poor of benefits from transformative schemes like PM Awas Yojana and Ayushman Bharat.

Sachdeva accused Kejriwal of focusing on building a luxurious residence for himself while neglecting the allocation of 40,000 flats in Narela meant for the underprivileged, leaving them in disrepair.

Sachdeva also criticized Kejriwal’s claims on education, pointing out that his government has not opened a single new school or college in ten years. In contrast, the central government has established seven Kendriya Vidyalayas, constructed the East Delhi Campus of Delhi University, and laid the foundation for two colleges and university projects.

He demanded answers from Kejriwal regarding the stalled progress of the promised Sports University and Military Training School, blaming alleged corruption for the delays. Sachdeva further questioned the poor state of Delhi’s public transport system, the failure to purchase new buses for the DTC, and the deteriorating condition of the city’s roads. He also called on Kejriwal to address the collapse of Delhi’s public health system during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with allegations of a major scam in oxygen allocation during the crisis.
