Kavitha challenges Rahul Gandhi, praises KCR’s leadership

As the city gears up for the impending Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, BRS leader and MLC K Kavitha criticised Congress figure Rahul Gandhi, calling him an “outdated leader” unable to keep pace with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR). The critique came during a BRS party meeting in Jagtial.
Kavitha hailed Telangana’s progress under KCR’s guidance, citing advancements in various sectors including employment opportunities, per capita income, communal harmony, and women development. She emphasised that the state stands unrivalled in the nation owing to these developments, a testimony to KCR’s effective leadership.
Taking a jibe at the recent promises made by AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge regarding Podu lands, Kavitha underscored that the initiatives have already been implemented under KCR’s tenure. She urged the Congress to “update” themselves, expressing doubts over Rahul Gandhi’s ability to match KCR’s dynamism and pace.
She further indicted Rahul Gandhi for his perceived failure to effectively counter Prime Minister Narendra Modi, positioning BRS as a viable alternative to the Congress at a national scale.
With the Gandhi family set to attend the CWC meeting on September 16 and 17, Kavitha challenged them to showcase the implementation of their promises in Congress-led states. She particularly pressed for answers on the status of the Women Reservation Bill, urging them to “answer this first and come to Telangana.”
Kavitha affectionately abbreviated KCR as embodying “kalvalu (canals), cheruvulu (tanks), and reservoirs,” crediting the meteoric development of Telangana to his concerted efforts. She portrayed KCR as a “kind-hearted, committed, responsible leader,” affirming that leaders of his calibre are rare to find.
