According to Minister of Housing and Minorities Welfare for Karnataka Zameer Ahmed Khan, the government is considering raising the three lakh rupee loan amount given to deserving minority students to five lakh rupees. Zameer Ahmed Khan said, “At the moment, the KMDC is giving loans of Rs 3 lakh to those students who have taken the MBBS admission under the government quota, and that amount may be increased to Rs 5 lakh. These schemes for the year 2023–24 have been developed by the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation (KMDC). The less fortunate students could then pursue higher education thanks to this. Additionally, Zameer Ahmed Khan mentioned that minority students who study abroad might also see their loan amounts increase.
“Rs 20 lakh education loan being given to the minority students who study abroad in the recognised universities to pursue degree and post-graduation. It may be hiked to Rs 30 lakh with the help of KMDC. In the last three years, the state was not getting the National Minority Development Board schemes but after holding a meeting, now we are getting the annual grant of Rs 50 crore,” he added.
A Rs. 3 lakh subsidy for unemployed people to purchase four-wheelers, the Shrama Shakti to provide skill development training, and a Rs. 50,000 loan program for widowed, single, and divorced women were all formally introduced by the Minister of Minorities Welfare. Manoj Jain, the secretary of the Minorities Welfare Department, Jilani Mokashi, the director, and Mohammed Nasir, the managing director of KMDC, were also present.
