Addressing a second letter to PM Narendra Modi, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has urged the cancellation of JD(S)MP Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport and ensure his return to India.
This letter from Siddaramaiah not only underscores the gravity of the allegations leveled against Hassan MP, but it also underscores Revanna’s disgraceful act of fleeing to Germany on a diplomatic passport just as the news of his alleged action came under the radar and hours before the FIR was filed.
Besides, CM has also expressed its concerns over diplomatic privilege abuse to save itself from criminal proceedings and accountability for its actions.
After that, the letter was concluded with a plea to take cognizance of the matter and initiate steps to cancel Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport under relevant legal provisions.
Moreover, Siddaramaiah also emphasized that securing the MP’s return is in the interest of public justice and accountability.
In this case, so far, the SIT (Special Investigation Team) has been formed to probe the matter.
Later, a Look-out circular was issued under Section 41A CrPC for additional measures.
But, despite pursuing the matter head-on, the accused is still absconding.
Meanwhile, the FIR registered against Revanna includes serious charges such as rape, sexual assault, disrobing women, and forcibly video-graphing sexual acts to intimidate the victims.
