A quiet village in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district witnessed a shocking crime after a domestic argument ended in death. A woman allegedly killed her husband following a prolonged and violent fight at their home in Tikra village.

The incident occurred late Wednesday night in the Bithoor area. Police said the couple had been drinking alcohol together when an argument broke out. What started as a verbal dispute soon turned violent and deadly.

Victim Succumbs to Injuries at Hospital

The victim, 45-year-old Pappu, worked at a tile and stone laying firm. After sustaining serious injuries, family members rushed him to a hospital. Doctors tried to save him, but he died early Thursday morning.

Medical staff alerted the police after observing the nature of his injuries. Doctors said the wounds appeared to be caused by sharp weapons rather than an accident.

Police Say Quarrel Lasted Nearly Two Hours

Police investigation revealed that the argument between the couple continued for nearly two hours. Officers believe the dispute escalated late into the night.

During the fight, the woman allegedly picked up an axe kept inside the house and attacked her husband multiple times. Pappu collapsed on the floor after suffering repeated blows.

Blood spread across the room as he lay critically injured.

Post-Mortem Reveals Brutal Assault

A post-mortem examination revealed more than 10 serious injuries on the victim’s head. Investigators said the injuries pointed to a violent and sustained attack.

Apart from the axe, police suspect that blunt objects, including a rolling pin and a grinding stone, were also used during the assault.

The findings strengthened the murder case against the accused.

Woman Allegedly Tried to Mislead Family

After the attack, police said the woman allegedly cleaned bloodstains from the floor. She then reportedly told her in-laws that Pappu had suffered injuries in a road accident.

Relatives later grew suspicious due to the severity of the wounds. Doctors confirmed that the injuries did not match an accident, prompting police action.

Child Found Hiding Inside the House

The couple’s four-year-old son was inside the house during the incident. Police said the child was found hiding inside a room when officers arrived.

After learning about her husband’s death, the woman allegedly fled the house with the child. Police later recovered the boy safely. DCP West Dinesh Tripathi said the case was not accidental.

He said, “The couple had consumed alcohol together, and the wife then attacked her husband.” He added that the assault showed clear intent to kill.

Family Alleges Longstanding Domestic Tension

The victim’s mother, Bitola Devi, said her son married Veerangana in 2019. She alleged that frequent quarrels started a few months after the marriage.

According to her, the woman had visited her sisters earlier that day and returned home in an intoxicated condition, which triggered the argument.

The victim’s brother, Santosh, described the tense situation when the family arrived. He said, “As we tried to take him to the hospital, she argued with us and became violent.”

Police later shifted Pappu to a private hospital, where doctors confirmed sharp-weapon injuries. Police are investigating whether the murder was pre-planned or occurred in the heat of the moment. Officers are recording statements from family members and neighbours.

Authorities said the family has not yet submitted a written complaint. Further legal action will follow once formal statements are completed.
