Actor and BJP MP from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the “world’s biggest feminist,” highlighting his efforts for women’s empowerment since coming to power. In an exclusive conversation with Hauterrfly, Kangana emphasized that Modi’s initiatives for women are impactful and pragmatic, yet carried out without public display.
Kangana said, “Modi ji se bada feminist mujhe nahi lagta is world mein koi hain! Ek toh wo jaise hi pehle aaye yaha jo samasya hain toilet ki, sabse pehle aake hi unhone wo banwaye… toh logo ne kaha ki kya gusalkhana banwa rahe ho? Unhone sabse pehle woh kaam kiya! Phir dusra kaam unhone gas-chulhe diye…” She stressed that the Prime Minister has silently changed women’s lives through practical reforms without showcasing them as political achievements.

Kangana outlined several initiatives that she believes exemplify Modi’s feminism. She said that while the installation of gas stoves decreased physical work and enhanced convenience for cooking in the home, the construction of bathrooms addressed sanitation issues and encouraged hygiene for women. She also praised Modi for encouraging women to gain financial independence by opening bank accounts and empowering them politically and socially through reservation opportunities. Kangana added, “Aise anginat kaam… I don’t want to make it preachy but mujhe lagta hain unse jyada bada feminist maine toh life main nahi dekha. Uske upar se kabhi ye cheez nahi dikhana ki haan hum bohot bade feminist hain. He is a silent feminist.”
Her remarks underscore the growing narrative around Modi’s women-centric policies, from the Swachh Bharat Mission to the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and other schemes that encourage financial inclusion.
In 2024, Kangana Ranaut made her political debut by running for the Lok Sabha from Mandi on a BJP ticket. She became a prominent political figure in addition to her Bollywood profession after defeating Vikramaditya Singh, her Congress opponent, by a margin of 74,755 votes. She has actively participated in projects that promote the welfare of women in her area and has been an outspoken supporter of the PM's programs during her time as an MP.
Apart from her political career, Kangana continues to make headlines in the film industry. Her most recent appearance was in the movie "Emergency," which she directed in addition to starring in, further solidifying her reputation as a strong, self-reliant woman both on and off screen.
