5 Army personnel killed in encounter with militants in J&K in Rajouri

A total of five soldiers lost their lives in the ongoing anti-terror operation in the Kandi area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri, officials said.

“Three more soldiers who were injured earlier have unfortunately succumbed to their injuries. A total of five soldiers have lost their lives in the joint operation in Rajouri, J&K,” said the officials.

Security personnel and militants engaged in gunfire early on Friday in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir’s Kandi neighbourhood.Jammu Mukesh Singh, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), informed the sources that an encounter had begun in the Kandi neighbourhood of Rajouri. In an encounter between militants and security personnel on Thursday in Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir, two terrorists were neutralised. The encounter broke out earlier in the day in the Wanigam Payeen Kreeri area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla.

The police recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including one AK 47 rifle and one pistol. “Two terrorists neutralised in Baramulla encounter. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 01 AK 47 rifle and one pistol recovered,” informed Kashmir Zone Police.

As per initial reports, a group of terrorists are trapped in the area. There is a likelihood of casualties in a terrorist group.
