Jharkhand BJP Chief Highlights Champai Soren’s ‘Visible Pain’ Amid Speculation of Joining NDA

Amidst speculation that former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren might leave the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Jharkhand BJP President Babulal Marandi on Monday commented that Soren’s anguish is evident in his recent post.

“The way he wrote the post, his pain is visible. He’s deeply hurt by how he was removed from the Chief Minister’s position, and now that pain has come to the surface,” said Marandi.

Marandi was referring to Champai Soren’s post on X, where Soren expressed feeling “insulted” during his tenure.

Speaking to ANI, Marandi further asserted that no other leader from JMM has emerged prominently since Hemant Soren took power. “Since Hemant Soren became Chief Minister in 2020, no other JMM leader has been able to step into the spotlight. There are many leaders like Champai Soren in JMM, but only Hemant Soren gets attention. Naturally, Champai Soren is anguished, and now it’s all coming out,” Marandi said.

When asked about the possibility of Champai Soren joining the BJP, Marandi declined to provide a direct answer. “I can’t say. He mentioned that he went to Delhi to meet his family, and when someone is in pain, they often seek comfort from their family,” Marandi remarked.

On Sunday, Champai Soren shared a post on X, recounting instances where he was not permitted to call a meeting of the legislative party and was abruptly asked to resign, leading him to “seek an alternative path.”

“Even though a Chief Minister has the right to call a meeting of the legislative party, I wasn’t even informed of the agenda. During the meeting, I was asked to resign. I was surprised, but I had no desire for power, so I immediately resigned. My heart was heavy with the blow to my self-respect. I was so emotional due to the constant insults over the past three days that I struggled to hold back tears, while others were only focused on the chair. It felt as if I had no existence in the party to which I had dedicated my entire life. Many other insulting incidents occurred, which I prefer not to discuss right now. After enduring so much humiliation, I was compelled to search for an alternative path,” Soren wrote in his post on X.
