To lessen the rising air pollution, Jaipur has installed air purifiers on city streets. Authorities took this step as the Air Quality Index crossed 190 on Friday, November 14, therefore making the city’s condition in the category of moderate.

Air Purifiers Deployed at Key Areas

The installation of air purifiers in areas like Jawahar Circle and Tonk Road has been confirmed by various reports. Four modular towers, inspired by the “PAMARES” style, were installed at highly congested points.

Each of these eight-metre-tall towers can filter one million cubic metres of air per hour. Reports say the installation work began on the night of November 12-13 and was supposed to become fully operational by November 15.

Public Reactions and Criticism

The sight of an air purifier caged on Rambagh Street went viral in no time on social media platform X, inviting widespread ridicule. People raised questions over the effectiveness and need of the initiative while arguing that these purifiers may just not be the solution for Jaipur’s persisting air pollution.

Many said the state government must plant more trees, which clean atmospheric air naturally, rather than investing in expensive machines. They also pointed out that the purifiers would not be able to deal with pollution caused by vehicular emissions, industrial waste, or seasonal dust.
