NEW DELHI: The 13th edition of the exchange4media News Broadcasting Awards (ENBA) was organised on Saturday, 3 April, where ITV Network bagged 17 awards across numerous categories. The awards honour the best in Indian broadcast news media, and this edition was special as it celebrated the work that the industry did during a year marked by the Covid-19 pandemic.
NewsX won nine awards, including one in the Best News Coverage (International – English) category for its #FreeTibet campaign. An award for Best International Programme in English also went to NewsX for “Ayodhya To Ayutthaya: The Real Ram Rajya” with Devika Chopra and Gauri Kundalia. Meanwhile, “Magna Indica” with Rishabh Gulati won an award for Best Show Identity (English) and the Rohingya documentary—Rohingyas in India Face Uncertain Future Amidst Country’s social & Demographic Challenges with Aishwarya Pandit won gold for Best Campaign for Social Cause (English).
Richa Kapoor of Tech & You won two awards for Best Coverage of Gadgets and Technology (English), while EDM with Uday Pratap Singh won for Best Coverage of Entertainment in English. NewsX also took home an award for Best Coverage on Food & Beverages (English) for Urban Hustle.
The ENBA also awarded several young professionals in the industry who did extraordinary work in 2020. One of them was Gauri Kundalia of NewsX, who won the award for Young Professional of the Year for Editorial in English.
India News bagged the awards for Best News Coverage (National – Hindi) for “Aankh Khol Ke” with Rohit Punetha and Best Campaign for Social Cause (Hindi) for “Diya Jalayen”. Meanwhile India News Haryana won four awards for Best News Coverage in the Northern Region, Best Coverage on Travel Sector in Hindi, Best In-depth Series for Regional Channel or Programme (Northern Region) and Best Campaign for Social Cause (Northern Region). India News Rajasthan also won an award for Best In-depth Series for Regional Channel of Program for the Western Region.
Digital platforms were also given their due credit by the ENBA and Inkhabar won the honours for Best Digital Media News Channel (Hindi).
The awards were presented after careful consideration by a varied team of judges comprising luminaries across politics, business, media and other fields. The jury was led by Vinay Sahasrabudhe, Rajya Sabha MP and Chairman of ICCR. Other important members included Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha, BJP spokesperson Shazia Ilmi, INC national media coordinator Radhika Khera, Country head and managing partner, Integrated Media, DDB Group, Rammohan Sundaram, MD of Teamwork Arts Sanjoy Roy, and JNU professor Anand Ranganathan, among several others.
