Intra-party dissent to be sorted out soon: CM Bommai

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai looked confident on Thursday about sorting out the dissidence issue in the party. Several BJP leaders were not happy with the party regarding the distribution of tickets for the upcoming state assembly polls to be held on 10 May.

“Change is inevitable; it occurs.” We will win over the opposition. The discontent in the party is being rectified. The party’s division will be reduced in most areas because the workers are strong; there will be no harm from this, Bommai remarked.

“The high command is speaking with the unhappy members.” I’ve spoken with all the leaders. We have faith that the disagreement will be settled quickly. Savadi is a senior and has been in politics for a long time. “It takes time, and there is also pressure from the public for a spot,” he added.

The Chief Minister asserted that Congress is considering inducting leaders from other parties because the party lacks candidates in 60 to 65 constituencies.

Congress won’t come into power because the party doesn’t have competent leaders, he said.

Karnataka, State Minister and six-time BJP MLA Angara S is unhappy for not getting a ticket. He said on Wednesday that he would not campaign for the party and announce his exit from political activity.

In the first list, the BJP announced the names of 189 candidates on 11 April while 23 candidates’ names were unveiled on 12 April.  However, Angara’s name was missing in both lists.

He is an MLA from Sullia in the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka and was denied a ticket to contest from the same seat this time, which is reserved for candidates from scheduled castes. Bhagirathi Murulya was given a ticket from the seat.
