Indo-Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise ‘GARUDA SHAKTI’ Begins in Indonesia

The 9th edition of the Indo-Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise, GARUDA SHAKTI, has officially begun at Mokopassus in Cijantung, Indonesia. Running from November 1 to 12, this exercise focuses on deepening military cooperation, sharing tactical expertise, and enhancing interoperability between the Special Forces of both nations.

The Indian Army contingent, represented by 25 personnel from The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), is joined by 40 personnel from Indonesia’s elite Kopassus unit. Since the start of the exercise, the troops have been engaging in rigorous tactical drills and mission planning sessions, tailored to the unique demands of jungle warfare. Activities include simulated strikes on terrorist camps and a validation exercise that integrates both basic and advanced Special Forces skills.

GARUDA SHAKTI offers a crucial platform for exchanging best practices in weaponry, equipment, and specialized techniques. In addition to tactical training, the exercise includes cultural exchanges to foster camaraderie and mutual respect, strengthening bonds between the two forces.

This joint exercise not only enhances military collaboration but also aligns with the shared security objectives of India and Indonesia, underscoring their commitment to regional stability and cooperation.
