IndiGo expands international network with new direct Mumbai flights to Tashkent and Almaty starting September 2025 (IndiaTimes)
The latest round of expansion involves establishing four flights per week from Mumbai to Tashkent, Uzbekistan and Almaty, Kazakhstan, on September 1 and 2, 2025, respectively, to facilitate travel between India's financial hub and important Central Asian cities.
Resumption of suspended services amid operational roadblocks
Earlier this year, owing to operational complications related to the closure of Pakistan airspace, IndiGo temporarily suspended its Mumbai-Almaty and Mumbai-Tashkent operations. The aircraft range is hampered due to this airspace closure, impacting the flight schedule.

Apart from resurrecting the Mumbai-Almaty and Mumbai-Tashkent operations, IndiGo is now surmounting the operational impediments and re-establishing its connect with the emerging Central Asian markets.
Recently, the airline introduced flights from Mumbai to Tbilisi, Georgia, and expanded long-haul operations to Manchester and Amsterdam. These initiatives strengthen Mumbai's role as a key international aviation hub.
Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo's Head of Global Sales, affirmed that IndiGo is excited to link Mumbai with these varied destinations, which he said offer customers enhanced travel choices and also strengthen IndiGo's claim as the airline of choice in India.

IndiGo operates a huge fleet of over 400 aircraft, over 2,200 flights every day to over 40 international and above 90 domestic destinations. This extensive network is supportive of the rapid growth of the airline and seeks to tap into new markets effectively. These Central Asian routes complement the plans envisaged by IndiGo to link Indian travelers to various global destinations.
With a re-established service to Tashkent and Almaty and expansion into other cities, IndiGo intends to enhance the promotion of trade and tourism between India and Central Asia, responding to growing passenger numbers. This compromise is anticipated to service business people, tourists, and the diaspora, encouraging cultural and economic exchange.
Internally, IndiGo's expanding international footprint serves as a testament to the rapidly changing landscape of India's aviation sector, with an emphasis on connectivity, customer choice, and operational resilience amid regional challenges.
