Just before the launch, the Railway Ministry announced a renaming of the metro to Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, as reported. The service will be virtually inaugurated from Bhuj railway station at 4:15 pm.

Western Railways describes the Vande Metro as a transformative development for intercity travel, aiming to enhance commuter comfort and stimulate economic growth in the Kutch region. The service is expected to create job opportunities and promote local tourism. Here’s a detailed overview:

– The Ahmedabad-Bhuj Vande Metro will begin operations on September 17, departing Ahmedabad daily at 5:30 PM (except Saturdays) and arriving in Bhuj at 11:10 PM.
– The Bhuj-Ahmedabad service will start on September 18, departing Bhuj daily at 5:05 AM (except Sundays) and reaching Ahmedabad at 10:50 AM.

Stops and Fare:
– The metro will make nine stops: Sabarmati, Chandlodiya, Viramgam, Dhrangadhra, Halvad, Samakhiali, Bhachau, Gandhidham, and Anjar.
– The total journey will cost Rs 455.

Features and Specifications:
– The Vande Metro features 12 air-conditioned coaches equipped with automatic sliding doors, modular interiors, continuous LED lighting, vacuum toilets, route map indicators, panoramic windows, CCTV, and phone charging facilities.
– It boasts advanced safety systems including KAVACH for collision avoidance, automatic smoke/fire detection, aerosol-based fire suppression, and emergency lighting.
– The train covers the 360-kilometer route in 5 hours and 45 minutes, traveling at a speed of 110 km/h.
– It has a seating capacity of 1,150 passengers and includes accessibility features such as Divyangjan-friendly toilets and a fully sealed flexible gangway.

The Railway Ministry highlights that the Vande Metro’s rapid acceleration and deceleration contribute to efficient travel, while cabs at both ends of the route eliminate turnaround time, enhancing overall service efficiency.
