Indian navy ships Shivalik and Kamorta visit Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

As part of the bilateral defence cooperation activities, two forward-deployed Indian Naval Ships in the South China Sea have arrived in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, according to the Navy.

“INS Shivalik and INS Kamorta forward deployed in #SouthChinaSea are in Ho Chi Minh City, #Vietnam as part of the bilateral defence cooperation activities and further enhance robust ties between the two navies as also to mark the 50th anniversary of #India- #Vietnam diplomatic relations,” the Indian Navy tweeted.

The Navy announced that during the visit, the ships would undertake a variety of professional exchanges with the Vietnam People’s Navy.

The visit is a part of the bilateral defence cooperation activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Vietnam and to strengthen the already strong connections between the two fleets.

Two Indian naval ships, the Sahyadri and the Kadmatt, had also visited Ho Chi Minh City earlier this year.

The Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet, based in Visakhapatnam, includes the visiting ships Shivalik and Kamorta.

The two ships were created and built in India, and they represent the country’s cutting-edge warship-building capabilities. They are outfitted with a variety of weapons and sensors and can transport multipurpose helicopters.
