Indian Army’s ‘Purvottar Swabhiman Utsav’ to begin in Guwahati from today

The Indian Army, as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the Indian Army, under the aegis of Head Quarter Eastern Command has organized a two-day Conclave “Purvottar Swabhiman Utsav” on the theme of ‘Celebrating Contribution of India’s North East Region (NER) in Nation Building.’ which starts on Sunday.

The celebration, which will continue through Monday in Guwahati, aims to honour Veer Naris, highlight NE culture, and emphasise the NER’s commitment to nation-building.

According to the press release, “The prestigious Conclave will be an apt opportunity to spread awareness about the role of unsung heroes of North East Region in India’s independence struggle, the contribution of the Indian Armed Forces and other important organs of the Government like North Eastern Council (NEC), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Assam Rifles and Northeastern Frontier Railways (NFR) towards overall development of NER, promote the integration of NER as also further cement Civil-Military relations.”
“It is the first time that such a unique event has been conceived and the mega event is being supported by the state governments of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur & Nagaland as also North Eastern Zone Cultural Council (NEZCC),” further stated.
Highlights of the programme include panel discussions at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati on November 20, where eminent figures like the chief minister of Meghalaya and well-known speakers from the Indian Army, NEC, NFR, and civil society will present thought-provoking lectures on current topics of utmost importance.
Conrad Sangma, the chief minister of Meghalaya, will attend this occasion.
On November 20 at Narangi Military Station, a special ceremony honouring the valiant Veer Naris of NER will also be held as part of the festivities. Around 100 Veer Naris are anticipated to attend this groundbreaking outreach programme.

A massive event will be held at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on November 21. It will feature a weapons/equipment display, an adventure activity demonstration, a concert by a fusion band, a medley of cultural performances by NER, a special appearance by local pop bands, and the city’s first-ever drone show.
The massive event will serve as a fitting tribute to the North East’s tenacious spirit and serve as a superb example of the region’s stakeholders working together harmoniously.
