Indian Armed Forces Launch Future Warfare Training, Using AI, Hypersonic Weapons

The Indian Armed Forces are gearing up for the inaugural Tri-Services “Future Warfare” course, a groundbreaking initiative set to take place in New Delhi from September 23-27, 2024. Spearheaded by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, this first-of-its-kind course aims to equip officers—from Major Generals to Majors across all services—with essential knowledge on the evolving nature of warfare.

The course will focus on the impact of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, robotics, and hypersonic weapons, which are rapidly transforming military strategies. It will also cover future warfare domains such as cyber, space, and the electromagnetic spectrum, alongside tactics for contact and non-contact warfare, including psychological and informational warfare.

This course is a response to the increasing complexity of global conflicts, driven by technological advancements and shifting geopolitical landscapes. The goal is to build a futuristic, cohesive, and tech-savvy force capable of addressing modern security challenges while fostering jointness among the three services.
