Indian and Bangladeshi Border Forces Exchange Sweets on 78th Independence Day

On the occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day, the Indian Border Guarding Force (176 Battalion) and their counterparts from the Border Guard Bangladesh (18 BGB) exchanged greetings and sweets at the Immigration Check Post (ICP) Fulbari in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district.

The Indian Border Guarding Force, a paramilitary organization, is responsible for securing India’s borders, especially along the sensitive boundaries with Pakistan and Bangladesh.

India celebrated its 78th Independence Day today with a focus on patriotism and national unity. This year’s theme, ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047,’ underscores the government’s commitment to transforming the country into a developed nation by the year 2047.

In the morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort in Delhi. In his Independence Day speech, PM Modi addressed concerns about the safety of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh, expressing India’s continued support for its neighboring country’s progress. He stated that India wishes Bangladesh well in its development journey and expressed hope for a return to normalcy following recent violent student-led protests that led to Sheikh Hasina’s resignation.

PM Modi noted, “As a neighboring country, we are concerned about the situation in Bangladesh and hope for an early return to normalcy.” He emphasized India’s desire for peace and prosperity in neighboring nations and reiterated India’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s progress and humanity’s welfare.

“We are dedicated to peace and will continue to support Bangladesh in its development efforts, always considering the welfare of humankind,” PM Modi added.
