For the first time in its 130-year history, the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), the leading global body for cooperatives, will hold its General Assembly and Global Cooperative Conference in India, thanks to the initiative by Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO). Scheduled for November 25 to 30, 2024, the event will take place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
IFFCO has announced that Amit Shah, Minister of Cooperation for the Government of India, will serve as the Chief Guest and preside over the conference’s inaugural session on November 25, 2024. This decision was made during the ICA Board meeting in Brussels on June 28, 2023, where IFFCO’s proposal was unanimously accepted.
Additionally, the conference will coincide with the official launch of the UN International Year of Cooperatives (2025), as confirmed in a meeting at the United Nations headquarters.
