The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that India and Pakistan have shared the list of their nuclear installations and facilities through diplomatic channels in New Delhi and Islamabad.
This exchange of information is in accordance with the agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear installations and facilities between the two countries.
The agreement, which was signed on December 31, 1988, and came into effect on January 27, 1991, stipulates that India and Pakistan must notify each other of the nuclear installations and facilities covered under the agreement on the first day of every calendar year.
This marks the 33rd consecutive year of exchanging such lists, with the first exchange taking place on January 1, 1992.
The exchange of the list occurred amidst ongoing tensions between the two nations, stemming from various issues including Kashmir and cross-border terrorism.
